The 38th Annual Mu Alpha Theta (Math) Contest

Sign Up Form (Sign Up before Friday, April 5th)

Event Date: Saturday, April 6th, 2024
Event Time: 9am - 12pm
Event Location: BSS 302

The contest consists of nine problems.  Six of them are worth five points each, and the last three are worth ten points each.  You will work on your own with no collaboration or assistance.  No cell phones, calculators, rulers, or other aids may be used.  In particular, cell phones must be turned off and put away.  You may not discuss the problems with the other participants until after the contest has concluded at 12:00 noon.  Do bring pencils/pens/erasers.  Scratch paper and snacks/coffee will be provided.  The room may be a little chilly, so you may want to bring a sweater, etc.

There are two categories.
Category A: Students who have completed at most one upper-division mathematics course (300 level or above).
Category B: Students who have completed more than one upper-division mathematics course (300 level or above).

Prizes in each category:
1st Prize - $100
2nd Prize - $50
3rd Prize - $25
