Scholarships

To help you pay for your education, Cal Poly Humboldt offers more than $10,000 in scholarships for new, current, and transfer students who are Math majors. Please note amounts and numbers of scholarships may vary each year.

First-time Freshmen

Elmo Moore Memorial Mathematics Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Class Standing: Full-time enrolled Mathematics major
Eligibility: Awarded to a student who has a minimum 2.0 GPA. Preference given to 1) Native American students 2) incoming freshmen and 3) students with financial need.

Undergraduate Students (Current)

Harry S. Kieval Mathematics Scholarship
Amount: $5,000
Class Standing: Senior Mathematics major
Eligibility: Recipients selected on the basis of academic performance, the quality and variety of math courses taken, and faculty recommendations.

Travis Jepsen Memorial Mathematics Scholarship
Amount: $3,000
Class Standing: Full-time enrolled Mathematics major
Eligibility: Awarded to a student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who demonstrates financial need.

Michael Tucker Mathematics Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Class Standing: Junior or senior Mathematics major
Eligibility: Awarded to a student who demonstrates outstanding promise in Mathematics

Robert S. Chambers Mathematics Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Class Standing: Full-time Mathematics major
Eligibility: Awarded to one or more students who maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Dr. Orval M. Klose Mathematics Scholarship
Amount: $500
Class Standing: Sophomore, junior, or senior Mathematics major
Eligibility: Students with a 3.0 GPA or higher, have a demonstrated financial need, and are making satisfactory academic progress.

Latika Patel Graduate Mathematics Scholarship*
Amount:
 $1,000
Class Standing: Full-time graduate Mathematics major
Eligibility: Minimum 3.0 GPA.
*Due to changes with the scholarship, undergraduates are eligible to apply. 

Transfer Students

Harry S. Kieval Transfer Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
Class Standing: Student at a two-year college preparing to transfer to Humboldt.
Eligibility: Outstanding performance in Mathematics at a two-year college.

Special Programs

The Mathematics and Science Teachers Initiative (MSTI) Future STEM-Teacher Scholars Program
Amount: $1,000 (up to two years at the undergraduate level)
Class Standing: Undergraduate junior or senior STEM major preparing for a single subject credential program in science or math; or undergraduate junior or senior Liberal Studies Elementary Education major with a depth of study in science or math preparing for a multiple subjects credential program.

CSU Assumption Program of Loans for Education (APLE)  
APLE is a teacher incentive program designed to encourage outstanding students, district interns, and currently credentialed teachers to seek and teach in K-12 California public schools. Up to $19,000 payback of student loans if you teach mathematics in California.
